In support of ACE’s mission, we strongly advocate for continuing professional development of individuals involved with medical student education, whether it be practicing physicians, trainees, or staff. ACE has had panels at the annual Association of American Medical Colleges Learn Serve Lead meeting for many years. These panels address a variety of different topics that are of interest to medical educators across the spectrum.
With the popularity of The Guidebook for Clerkship Directors, ACE developed the Clinical Faculty Development Series to provide faculty development to medical student educators. These sessions offered updated content based on chapters of the 5th edition.
For administrative staff working in pre-clinical medical education and clinical medical education, the role of educational coordinators (administrators, managers) is essential to the success of medical student education. ACE’s administrative director developed this program in 2004 for the Central Group on Educational Affairs and is ongoing to this day.
